Canton Central school board approves appoinments, leaves, resignations

CANTON – The Canton Central School Board of Education approved several appointments, leaves of absence and resignations at its Thursday, Sept. 5 meeting.

The board approved the resignation of Colleen Conklin, from the position of teacher aide, effective Aug. 30 and appointed her as a teaching assistant retroactively to August 30, 2019, through August 29, 2023, at a salary of $22,572.

The school board approved the resignation of Mandy McCluskey from the position of teacher aide, effective Aug. 30 and appointed her as a teaching assistant retroactively to August 30, 2019, through August 29, 2023, at a salary of $22,572.

The board approved the following appointments: Haley Ladouceur, registered nurse, effective retroactively to Aug. 28, at a salary of $45,144; Linda Smith, long-term substitute for teaching assistant Connie Bessette, effective retroactively to Sept. 3, through September 30, 2019, at a rate of $11.80 per hour for the first ten days (to be paid $115 per day, retroactively to the first of ten consecutive days, which does not include days when school is not in session) and Alexander Watson, leave replacement to custodial worker Mark Massia, effective Sept. 10, through on or about Sept. 9, 2020.

More appointments included Mary Anne Meyers, leave replacement for cleaner Alexander Watson, effective Sept. 10, 2019 through on or about Sept. 9, 2020, at the rate of $13.50 per hour; Madolyn Wainwright, 2.5-hour food service helper, effective retroactively to Aug. 28, at a probationary rate of $13.69, $18.25 per hour at the completion of probationary period; Jeri Baity, teacher aide, per the needs of the student, effective retroactively to Sept. 3, at a prorated salary of $16,000; Jade Chase, teacher aide, per the needs of the student, effective Sept. 23, 2019 at a prorated salary of $16,000; Henry Santana, hourly school monitor, effective retroactively to Sept. 3, at a rate of $11.80 per hour.

Also appointed were Kenneth Stone, substitute school bus driver, effective retroactively to July 29, 2019, at a rate of $18.75; Jonathan Stone, substitute school bus driver, effective Sept. 5, at a rate of $18.75 per hour; Ashton Cloce, student lifeguard, effective retroactively to Aug. 27, at a rate of $11.80 per hour; Elizabeth St. Andrews, student lifeguard, effective Sept. 5, at a rate of $11.80 per hour; Lori Butler, speech therapist, effective retroactively to July 1, through June 30, 2020, at a rate of $60 per 30-minute session.

Food service assistant managers for the 2019-20 school year are Lena Gollinger (elementary school), Paw Shaw (middle school), Judy McMartin (high school).

Food service helper change in hours: Katherine Conklin, from 2.5 hours to 3 hours per day; Alisha Foote, from 2.5 hours to 3 hours per day; Lena Gollinger, from 6 hours to 6.5 hours per day and Denise Morley, from 2.5 hours to 3 hours per day.

Leave of absences were approved for Connie Bessette, paid family medical leave, from the position of teacher assistant, effective through Sept. 30; Alexander Watson, from the position of cleaner, through on or about Sept. 9, 2020; and Debra McCollum, paid medical leave, from the position of school bus river, through on or about Sept. 23, none of which qualifies under the Family Medical Leave Act.
