CANTON -- Canton Central School awarded a high school diploma to a local veteran who joined the military prior to graduation.
John H. Conklin was presented a diploma Tuesday, Dec. 10, by CCS Principal Doug Dominy and Superintendent Ronald P. Burke.
Section 305 of the NYS Education Law created “Operation Recognition” to recognize the dedication and sacrifice of WWII, Korean, and Vietnam veterans who left school before graduation by awarding them a high school diploma.
Cpl. John H. Conklin served in the US Army stateside during the Korean War for eight years and was honorably discharged in March of 1961.
