CANTON — Canton Central School Board of Education approved several appointments, a resignation and tenure appointments of four staff members. Tenure appointments were approved, effective Sept. 1, for Anne Badolato, secondary social studies; Robert Kotz, physical education teacher; Mary Parker, school counselor; Stephen Smithers, technology teacher. Appointments approved include Ida Sanderson, long-term substitute for for Lori Tiernan, effective retroactively from May 13, 2021 to June 23, 2021, at a rate of $12.50 per hour for the first ten consecutive days (to be paid $117.30 per day, retroactively to the first of ten consecutive days, which does not include days when school is not in session).

Edwin Sisk, was appointed as substitute bus driver, effective on or about June 1, 2021, Earlier the board accepted a resignation from Sisk from the position of bus driver and garage helper, for the purpose of retirement. Nancy Youngs, teaching assistant, was appointed to a probationary tenure track position, effective Sept. 1, 2021 through Aug. 31, 2025, unless extended in accordance with the law, at a salary of $23,456 (Step 1). The Board accepted the resignation of Cailey Underhill, from the position of secondary English teacher, effective July 31, 2021.

A leave of absence was approved for Drew White, from the position of social studies teacher, child rearing leave, effective on or about Sept. 1, 2021 intermittently to on or about October 29, 2021, to be used by the following schedule: Each day beginning on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 through Friday, September 17, 2021 and on each Thursday and Friday of each week beginning on September 23, 2021 through October 29, 2021, and also add Wednesday, October 27, 2021, all of which qualify under the Family Medical Leave Act.
