Canadian air mass to keep St. Lawrence County cool early this week; weekend warmup expected

The week begins with cold startas a Canadian airmass has moved over the St. Lawrence Valley, bringing high temperatures for the next couple of days in the 20s and 30s with overnight lows in the teens to single digits, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

A noticeable warming trend begins mid week and into the weekend as high temperatures rise to the 40s on Wednesday and 50s by the end of the week, NWS says.

Expect dry and quiet conditions for most of the week before a mix of showers moves in late Thursday and into the weekend, the service says.

The high today will be around 35 with sunny skies and winds of 6-11 miles per hour, forecasters say. An overnight low of 15 is expected.

Tuesday will again see a high of 35 with an overnight low of 16, the service says.

The forecast through the weekend is as follows:

Tuesday

Sunny, with a high near 35. West wind 3 to 8 mph.

Tuesday Night

Mostly clear, with a low around 16. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the evening.

Wednesday

Sunny, with a high near 49. Southwest wind 6 to 10 mph.

Wednesday Night

Mostly clear, with a low around 31. South wind 6 to 9 mph.

Thursday

A 40 percent chance of showers after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 52. Southwest wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Thursday Night

A chance of rain showers before 5am, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. West wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Friday

A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 49. West wind around 7 mph.

Friday Night

A chance of rain showers before 11pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 11pm and 1am, then a chance of snow showers after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
