The Class of 1961 from St. Lawrence Central School in Brasher Falls celebrated their Milestone 50th Class Reunion Aug. 5 and 6.

The graduating Class of 1961 had 79 graduates and they have since lost 13 of those classmates over the 50 years.

Out of the remaining 66 classmates they had about half of those attending either the Friday or Saturday night events and some who attended both evenings.

Friday night was an informal get together at the American Legion in Winthrop to go over old times and catch up on what everyone had been doing over the past 50 years.

Saturday evening event was held at the Knights of Columbus in Brasher Falls and entailed a cocktail hour, dinner at 6:30 p.m. with a DJ starting at 7 p.m.

There was a table set up with memorial books, pictures, flowers, classmate information, pictures from previous reunions and copies of the class Lariat issued in 1961.

The tables were decorated in white & blue and mementos were magnets, candy boxes and bookmarkers which were given to each classmate.

The class colors were blue and white and our flower was the Red Rose so we had red roses on the tables and on the Memory Table. The class motto was "Every good and perfect gift comes from above. James 1:17"

Group photos were taken outside after dinner and then everyone went back inside to resume the reunion.

In 1960 the Class of 1961 as Juniors took a Survey by Project Talent and upon seeing the notification on North Country Now that Project Talent wanted to get in contact with the St. Lawrence Central School Class of 1961.

Class members took the liberty of getting in touch with Project Talent and the committee discussed inviting one of their representatives to come to the Class Reunion.

Their representative was pleased to attend and set up a table with information, pens, forms, etc. for anyone who wished to update what they have been doing over the past 50 years or just ask her questions.

This was very interesting since most of the Class of 1961 did not even remember taking the survey back in March of 1960.

Some of the names who attended Friday night but are missing from Saturday's photos are: Raymond Page, Sharon Merrick LaVare, Loretta Santimaw Foster, Phyllis Pike LaBarge, Nancy Greene Martin, Margaret Thompson Gauthier, Kathleen Tucker Monette, Sharon Millar Compo and Geraldine Villnave Wilson.
