BRASHER -- Taxpayers in Brasher will see a slight increase in the tax rate in 2024 after town officials adopted the 2024 budget recently.
The budget was adopted Nov. 8.
According to Town Supervisor Mark Peets, the tax rate will be $3.7170 per $1,000 assessed value for property owners.
Peets said that the tax rate increase is under the tax cap and represents an increase of four cents per $1,000 from the 2023 budget.
The 2024 budget totals $$2,578,880 and calls for $653,593 to be raised through taxes.
Officials say that breaks down to $234,943 for the general fund and $247,900 for the highway fund.
As for the salaries, the 2024 budget will pay out an $18,000 salary for the supervisor, $5,000 per council member, of which there are four, totaling $20,000, as well as $12,000 each for the two town justice positions, $63,500 for the highway superintendent and an hourly salary of $26.78 for highway employees.
