POTSDAM — Two Brasher Falls men were arrested Friday morning after police investigated an alleged fight downtown near Willow Street, according to Potsdam police.

David Z. Johnson, 26, was charged at 2:36 a.m. with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, officers said.

Johnson allegedly failed to obey officers commands and attempted to flee on foot.

When taken into custody, he was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine which was packaged in a manner consistent with the distribution of narcotics, police said.

He was arraigned and released under the supervision of probation.

Ethan A. Francis, 33, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, littering and obstruction of governmental administration, police said.

He was observed smashing a cell phone in the roadway which he has left as trash as he walked away.

He attempted to put himself between officers and another suspect and later resisted arrest when police took him into custody, officers said.

He also allegedly damaged a police vehicle during the incident.

Francis was sent to St. Lawrence County jail on $1,000 bail, police said.
