POTSDAM — The American Red Cross says it provided emergency aid to six people following a fire Tuesday night.
The blaze, at 573 Sissonville Rd., was reported around 8:40 p.m., according to Potsdam Fire Department First Assistant Chief Mark Bradish.
Firefighters from Potsdam, West Potsdam, West Stockholm, and Norwood battled the fire for several hours, he said. Norfolk was on standby for Norwood.
The home sustained “extensive damage” from fire, smoke and water.
“The inside was burnt up pretty good,” Bradish said.
At least one person was home at the time of the fire, he said.
No injuries were reported.
According to WWNY, two dogs died in the fire, but a cat was saved.
The fire is believed to have started in the basement. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, Bradish said.
