Bank to support North Country Children’s Museum’s second floor expansion project in Potsdam

POTSDAM — Community Bank recently made a donation to support the North Country Children’s Museum’s second floor expansion project.

This multi-year pledge will help create the museum’s Physics Trail Exhibit with science interactives geared for children ages 8-12.

Winding through the museum’s second-floor expansion space will be a “trail” of exhibit activities that are connected to both physics and the natural environment.

Themed and designed in a way that fits with some of the local geographic features, these exhibits will encourage fun STEM exploration.

Physics interactives will include a cloud maker, prisms, animal eyes, lift yourself gravity chair, air cannon, and more.

The exhibit will teach physics topics such as: laws of motion; mass, force and weight, momentum, gravity, energy & work, through hands-on play and investigation.

The Physics Trail Exhibit is being created by world renowned exhibit designers Blue Rhino Design out of Toronto in collaboration with Children’s Museum staff and Clarkson and St. Lawrence University science faculty.

Children’s Museum Executive Director, Sharon Vegh Williams says, “We are so grateful to Community Bank for sponsoring this important STEM initiative for children and families.” Community Bank Vice President of Commercial Banking, Ron Bacon says, “We are very proud to support the Children’s Museum as it continues to grow and expand programs. We are fortunate to have such a valuable community asset.”

The Children’s Museum Second floor expansion project including the Physics Trail Exhibit is slated to open in December 2023. For more information on the second floor expansion project visit: https://northcountrychildrensmuseum.org/second-floor-expansion/ .
