BRASHER FALLS – On June 20, Brasher Falls Central School District voters will vote on a referendum to establish and fund the Badenhausen Public Library. At the same time, voters will elect five trustees to serve on the Board of Trustees for the library.
People who are United States citizens, eighteen years old or older, and have been residents of the Brasher Falls Central School District for 30 days preceding the election are eligible to run for vacancies on the five-member Board of Trustees. For this first election, terms will be staggered from one to five years. Subsequent elections will be for five year terms.
Candidates may pick up petitions at the Badenhausen Reading Room. These petitions must be returned to the Reading Room by May 15.
Trustee Roles:
Plan and evaluate the library’s service program based on community needs
Secure adequate funding for the library’s service program
Exercise fiduciary responsibility for the use of public and private funds
Adopt policy
Maintain a facility that meets the library’s community needs
Promote the library in the community
Conduct the library’s business in an open and ethical manner
