MASSENA — Applications are now being accepted for home rehabilitation projects for low income families following approval of a $350,000 grant, officials say.
The grant comes from the NYS Affordable Housing Corporation, allowing the village to rehabilitate ten eligible owner-occupied homes in the village.
Funds may be used to address health and safety concerns, improve energy efficiency and handicap accessibility.
To be eligible for the program, applicants must
• Own and occupy a single family home in the village
• Be current on all school, county and village taxes, as applicable, and all other municipal obligations (ex. water and sewer bills)
• Have homeowner’s insurance
• Have an adjusted gross income at or below 112% of county median income for household size
Adjusted gross incomes for household size follow; 1 ($42,202), 2 ($48,205), 3 ($54,208), 4 ($60,211), 5 ($65,050), 6 ($69,888), 7 ($74,726), 8 ($79,565).
The village has entered into an agreement with the Development Authority of the North Country to administer the housing program.
Applications are available on the village website, massena.us/308/Village-Housing-Rehabilitation or at the village offices located at Town Hall Building, 60 Main Street.
