AKWESASNE -- State police say they arrested a Hogansburg man Thursday after he allegedly led law enforcement on a pursuit into the Village of Saranac Lake where a village police patrol vehicle was damaged.

Justin A. Square, 22, was picked up on an arrest warrant from the Town of North Elba Court for the incident, which occurred July 31 on State Route 86, troopers said.

On that date, police said they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Square. Square then led police on a pursuit in the vehicle and later fled on foot and could not be immediately located.

Square was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, police said He was also cited for numerous vehicle and traffic violations, including second-degree aggravated unauthorized operation for driving on a suspended license.

He was arraigned in Town of North Elba Court and remanded to the Essex County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.

St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police assisted state police.
