Recently, a dozen St. Lawrence County residents were among 578 students at Keuka College conducted Field Periods in 17 states and seven foreign countries including Australia, Bahamas, Costa Rica, France, Vietnam, Italy, and West Africa
At Keuka, students are required to conduct a Field Period every year to take classroom theory and apply it to the “real world.”
They spend 140 hours, typically in January, exploring career opportunities and gaining insight into what it takes to be successful after college.
The following St. Lawrence County residents conducted Field Periods:
· Darrcy Matthews, a sophomore management major from DeKalb Junction: Watkins Glen International, Watkins Glen;
· Krystina DeVito, a junior occupational science major from Russell: Maplewood Health Care and Rehabilitation, Canton;
· Sara Sloan, a freshman occupational science major from Heuvelton: St. Lawrence-Lewis County BOCES, Canton;
· Matthew Snyder, a junior exploratory major from Potsdam: H.C. Williams High School, Canton;
· Alicia Trombley, a junior unified childhood/special education major from Canton: J.M. McKenny Middle School, Canton;
· Meghan Hance, a sophomore biology major from Dekalb Junction: E.J. Noble Hospital, Gouverneur;
· Sara Sloan, a freshman occupational science major from Heuvelton: Claxton Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg;
· Taylor Amo, a sophomore occupational science major from Ogdensburg: United Helpers Nursing Home, Ogdensburg and Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg;
· Megan Barney, a sophomore occupational science major from Madrid: Claxton Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg;
· Ellie Holmes, a sophomore clinical science major from Ogdensburg: Ogdensburg Family Practice, Ogdensburg;
· Krystina DeVito, a junior occupational science major from Russell: Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam; and
· Courtney French, a junior visual and verbal art major from Massena: Global Volunteers Network Turtle Project, San Jose, Costa Rica.
