MASSENA — Town officials are soliciting feedback from residents regarding a potential new public water district, with an interest survey having been distributed recently.
“Some places have been identified and some major stakeholders have been identified. Surveys have gone out to the individual property owners,” said Sam Carbone, town councilman.
Engineers have evaluated the potential cost and scale of the project and will soon draft a report with their findings, according to officials.
According to a letter disseminated to some town residents, the current study suggested there are areas of the town that have optimal conditions for cheap, public water service.
Those who received the letter are in what has been deemed the potential service area, according to officials.
Officials say it is important that the residents who received the letter respond in a timely manner to ensure their voices are heard so the town can act in an appropriate manner based on their interests.
Letters should be returned to town hall by Friday, Nov. 26.
Questions should be directed to town board members or the town clerk.
