POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam volleyball team (11-8) swept past SUNY Canton (9-7), 3-0, on Wednesday night.

The Bears wore down the Kangaroos in each of the three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-20. Samantha Strader posted a season-high 15 kills to lead the attack. Dakota Pruiss contributed six kills and five digs and Liza Fields added six aces. Jenna Blujus finished the night with two aces, six digs and 26 assists.

Bears Head Coach Steve Pike was satisfied with win, but also impressed with Canton.

“SUNY Canton is doing a great job building their program,” said Pike. “They really came out and competed tonight. We were able to out-serve them and that was the difference. Liza’s (Fields) serve was great for us tonight and Sam (Strader) did some good things for us on the outside, scoring-wise. They were key for us in keeping Canton out of system.

Next, the Bears travel to Kean, N.J., on Saturday, Oct. 1, for the Kean Tri-Match. Potsdam faces host Kean at noon, followed by Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at 2 p.m.
