(Lynn, Mass.) – Shannon Lafave (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) accomplished a personal milestone on Sunday as the senior forward scored 16 points to reach the 1,000-point mark for her career helping the Roos beat Fisher College 68-39 at Fecteau-Leary Gym in Lynn, Mass.
LaFave needed 16 points to reach the mark and she did just that scoring eight points in each half. She shot 7-for-13 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free throw line and also collected 12 rebounds to post a double-double for the Roos (1-1 Sunrise Conference, 3-8 overall).
SUNY Canton led 23-20 at halftime and then erupted for 45 points in the second half to cruise to the win. The Roos put on quite a defensive performance as they made 11 steals, blocked seven shots and held Fisher to 22 percent shooting.
Brittany Kenyon (Hammond, N.Y.) converted all eight of her free throw attempts to finish with 17 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Heather Lottie (Canton, N.Y.) added 11 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.
Fisher was led by Tiffany Beckman who pumped in 22 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and made four steals. Javana Bernard had 14 points and three rebounds.
