(Potsdam, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton women’s basketball team closed out the regular season on a seven-game winning streak after they rolled over the College of St. Joseph 74-36 on Sunday at Clarkson University’s Alumni Gym.
The Roos improved to 10-2 in the Sunrise Conference and 12-9 overall and will now prepare for the conference tournament next weekend in Windham, Maine. The Roos are the No. 2 seed and will face No. 3 University of Maine at Presque Isle on Feb. 26 at 5 p.m.
Sunday’s game was also the final home contest for seniors Shannon Lafave (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) and Jackie Maynard (Brasher Falls, N.Y.). The pair were recognized and honored prior to the start of the game and LaFave finished the day with nine points and two rebounds and Maynard had four points and two rebounds.
The Roos led 38-21 at halftime and then held the Fighting Saints to just 15 points in the second half to sweep the season series.
Tierney McGlynn (Watervliet, N.Y.) scored a game-high 14 points as the freshman went 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Brittany Crump (North Lawrence, N.Y.) added 13 points and five rebounds and Ilijana Todorovic (Banja Luka, Bosnia) chipped in with 13 points and eight boards.
Amanda Howard paced St. Joseph with 10 points and three rebounds and Brooke Griswold added nine points and two steals.
