The St. Lawrence University men's tennis team suffered a 6-3 loss to Hobart College on "Senior Day" in Canton, NY. The Saints, ranked No. 14 in the Northeast Region, fall to 5-6 on the season, while the Statesmen improve to 6-8.
Seniors Will Cook and Ren Gates led the Saints with an 8-1 win over Matt Chin and Matt Hursh in second doubles. Classmate Tony Wilkey teamed up with sophomore Michael Hayden to defeat Bruce Grant and Alex James 8-3 in first doubles.
Wilkey, a Vero Beach, FL native, picked up the lone singles point for the Saints, defeating Bruce Grant 6-4, 7-6 (5) in the No. 1 spot.
St. Lawrence will travel to Cornell on Sunday, April 17 to take on the Big Red. The match is scheduled to start at 5:00 pm.
