St. Lawrence University sophomore Ashley-Kate Durham posted the Saints alpine ski team's top finish on Saturday in the giant slalom at the 2011 Middlebury Carnival.  Meanwhile, both rookie Dustin Martin and junior Matt Dodge had collegiate-best showings in the event, as both the men's and women's squads earned sixth place.

Durham finished in ninth place overall with a combined time of 2:06.24.  Sophomore Ann West added a 15th place finish, while rookie Caroline Barry and senior Kelly Skinner tied for 34th to cap the scoring at 70.0 points.

First-year student Hayley Best (42nd) also competed in the women's GS for St. Lawrence.

On the men's side, Martin was the top finisher for the Scarlet and Brown.  The Stowe, VT native tied for 14th in the individual standings with a time of 2:02.32, his best showing to date.  Dodge then followed in 17th overall, which was also a career best.  Junior Wyatt McKibbon, competing in only his second carnival event, then capped the scoring at 66.5 points with a 40th place finish.

Senior Thatcher Jacques (42nd), sophomore Cory Ransom (45th) and rookie Ben DeFlavio (DNS 2nd) also represented the Saints in the men's event.

The University of Vermont swept the GS races on Saturday at Middlebury, with Kate Ryley and Kevin Drury earning the individual titles for the Catamounts.  UVM's men's team won with 130.0 points, while the women won with 122.0.

The St. Lawrence alpine teams will be in action again next weekend at the 2011 EISA Championships hosted by Bates College.  The events will be the final chances for competitors to earn a spot in the 2011 NCAA Championships.
