CANTON -- The St. Lawrence University Saints open the 2010 campaign on the road against Ithaca College on Sept. 4.

The Scarlet and Brown will then take on Norwich in the home opener the following Saturday, September 11, at 1:00pm.

The senior trio of Nate Howard, Tim Robinson and Ben Cryts are serving as captains.  Head coach Mark Raymond has named Scott Brisson, formerly an assistant coach at Lehigh University, as offensive coordinator for the Scarlet and Brown.

All three captains are coming off of career-best seasons, including Robinson and Cryts who received Liberty League Honorable Mention status.

Robinson created match-up problems for opposing defenses throughout the 2009 season, as he served as both a solid blocker and consistent receiver.  Robinson averaged over 10 yards per catch, logging career-highs with 204 yards and 20 receptions.  He also made his first collegiate touchdown reception against Susquehanna.

Cryts was a consistent threat at linebacker in his first full season as a starter.  The Derry, NH native chipped in 59 total tackles including 7.5 for a loss and two sacks.  Cryts also helped account for four turnovers, including three interceptions and a forced fumble.

Howard became a force along the defensive line for the Saints as a junior.  After making 18 tackles in 2008, the Durham, NH native erupted for 71 total stops as a junior including 10.5 tackles for a loss and a recovered fumble.  Howard's 5.0 sacks were a new career-high and helped St. Lawrence lead the conference in that category.

Meanwhile, Brisson, a 2006 graduate of Bowdoin College, joins the Saints' coaching staff as the offensive coordinator for the 2010 season after a two-year stint at Lehigh University.  While coaching at Lehigh, Brisson served as both the wide receivers and running backs coach.  He also worked for two seasons as the wide receivers coach at Franklin and Marshall following a stand-out playing career as a wide out at Bowdoin.  Brisson will also work as the baseball team's operations manager at St. Lawrence in the spring of 2011.
