Both the St. Lawrence University men's and women's Nordic ski teams posted seventh place finishes in the 3x3x1 sprint relays on Saturday at the 2011 Middlebury Carnival.

The Saints men's top team was comprised of graduate student Zach Wetherell, junior Adam Terko and senior Steven Vargo.  The trio clocked in with a time of 27:56.0 to take eighth in the men's event.

The second men's squad finished in 10th position with a time of 28:16.0.  The group included rookie Eric Lustgarten, sophomore Connor Hunt and senior Kyle Marvinney.

On the women's side, St. Lawrence's top finish was turned in by the trio of junior Caroline Carpenter, first-year student Amanda Moreland and junior Leah Hart.  The team raced the 3x3x1 relay in 33:55.6 to claim 11th overall, finishing ahead of their fellow teammates.  The trio of sophomore Kelsey Nichols, rookie Amy Cymerman and senior Sophie Allen followed in 12th place in 34:20.3.

The University of New Hampshire won the women's race, while Dartmouth College claimed the men's title.

The St. Lawrence Nordic teams will be in action again next weekend at the 2011 EISA Championships hosted by Bates College.  The events will be the final chances for competitors to earn a spot into the 2011 NCAA Championships.
