Senior Eric Gollands (Chelmsford, MA) of the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team was chosen as a Liberty League First-Team All-Star, headlining seven members of the 2012 Golden Knights squad that were selected as conference all-stars on Wednesday.

Gollands was the lone member of the Knights to make the first team, but Corey Herrington (Camillus, NY), Matt Davidson (Hilton, NY) and Ryan Cole (Orchard Park, NY) gained Liberty League Second-Team All-Star status, while Bryan Huff (Hillsborough, NJ), Matt McCabe (Syracuse, NY), and Brendon Shearin (Goffstown, NH) each gained Liberty League Honorable Mention All-Star notice.

Gollands, who was chosen as a Liberty League First-Team All-Star in 2011 as well, ranked second in goals for the Knights with 22, in addition to his pair of assists on the season. He also contributed 12 groundballs, starting all 14 times this season.

Herrington was one of the leading contenders for rookie of the year, but had to settle for Liberty League Second-Team honors. The first-year attackman led the team in points (40) and assists (20) as a key playmaker around the goal. He also finished third on the team with 20 goals. Ryan Cole and Matt Davidson joined Gollands as repeat honorees. Cole, a junior, was picked as a league all-star for the third time in three years, ranking among the conference leaders in goals against average (7.38) and save percentage (58.9%). Davidson, a senior, was named Honorable Mention last year before ascending to the Second-Team this season. He was among the team leaders in groundballs (25) and easily led the team in caused turnovers (13).

Senior Bryan Huff was hampered by injuries this season, but still managed to record 21 points on 17 goals and four assists, becoming Clarkson's 22nd player to produce 100 points or more in a career. Huff was also named a conference all-star as a sophomore and junior. Junior midfielder Matt McCabe, like Cole, was honored as a league standout for the third time in three seasons, scoring 27 points on 12 goals and 15 assists, and putting himself in position to become Clarkson's 23rd 100-point scorer early next season. Brendon Shearin was chosen as an all-star for the first time in his Clarkson career as the team's leading sniper, tallying 26 goals and three assists for 29 points. His 26 goals were tied for fifth-most in the Liberty League this season.

Clarkson finished the regular season with a 9-5 record overall and a 3-3 mark in the highly competitive Liberty League. The Golden Knights currently have a goal-differential of 38 through 14 games, matching their best mark since the 2002 season. Clarkson will appear in the Liberty League Tournament against RIT this weekend.
