The St. Lawrence University women's tennis team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 7-2 victory over SUNY New Paltz on Friday afternoon in the Newell Field House.
First-year students Olivia Arroyo and Anna Young, as well as junior Elizabeth Murphy were double-winners for the Saints. Arroyo topped Paige Munroe after losing the first set in No. 3 singles (4-6, 6-2, 6-3), while Young beat Devin Tracy in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-2. At No. 4, Geer earned a victory against Alli Esposito, 6-3, 6-4.
Senior Hillary Drewry and first-year student Elkie Vandenbeemt earned victories at No. 1 singles (6-4, 6-2) and No. 2 singles (6-3, 6-0), respectively
Geer teamed up with classmate Shannon Murphy to earned an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles. Arroyo and Young edged their opponent, 9-8 (7), at No. 3 doubles.
The Saints will play Steven's Tech on March 13 in the opener of their spring trip to Orlando, FL.
