Paul Piatelli drew a bases loaded walk to force in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth as St. Lawrence University's baseball team won its season opener, 6-5 over Mitchell College in Ft. Myers, FL on Saturday.

The Saints, 1-0, will play Fredonia in a double header on Sunday at Ft. Myers.

Matt Skelly went seven innings for the Saints, striking out seven and allowing two earned runs while Kyle Donaldson earned the win in relief, allowing two earned runs and striking out three. Mitchell, 1-3, trailed 5-3 heading into the ninth inning, but tied the game in the top of the inning. The Saints came right back to load the bases and come away with the win on Piatelli's walk.

Jeff Kott's double got the Saint season off to a good start as he drove in two runs in the bottom of the first. Brian Magovney had three hits, scored one run and drove in another in the Saint opener.
