The St. Lawrence University men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept the Utica Pioneers in a dual meet on Saturday in Utica, NY. The women won by the score of 113-86, while the men won by the score of 112-93.
On the women's side, junior Brynn Hagen and senior Katy Kozminski were two-time victors. Hagen won the 200 IM (2:25.62) and the 100 back (1:06.94), while Kozminski took home the 50 free (26.23) and the 100 free (57.38).
Also posting first place finishes in individual events were sophomore Casey Abribat in the 200 free (2:06.32), junior Katie Spakowski in the 1000 free (11:29.66) and first-year student Katharina Weidhausser in the 100 fly (1:03.62).
Abribat, Weidhausser and Kozminski were joined by senior Hannah Grimes in the 200 medley relay where they posted a first place finish with a time of 1:58.55.
On the men's side, senior Jared Pellerin and sophomore Jason Dutra were double-winners for the Saints. Pellerin recorded wins in the 200 free (1:54.34) and the 500 free (5:03.37), while Dutra placed first in the 100 fly (56.52) and the 100 back (58.89).
Junior Russ Newton posted a first place finish in the 1000 free (10:20.15) and joined sophomore Alex Root and first-year students Tad Deatly and Luke Peleggi in winning the 200 free relay (1:39.64).
Dutra and Peleggi, along with senior Rob Sibley and junior Andrew Hayes, earned a victory in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:46.41.
The Saints will compete in the NYS Championships in Webster, NY February 23rd - 26th.
