Potsdam, NY - A balanced effort from St. Lawrence, along with some narrow victories, sent the Clarkson University Swim team to an opening dual meet loss to the Saints Saturday afternoon at Fuller Pool. The Knights' men fell 117-103, while the women dropped a 138-78 decision.
The Golden Knights had a pair of individual winners at the meet, with sophomore Paul Telesca (Liverpool, NY) claiming first in the 50 freestyle in a time of 25.49 seconds, and junior Mike Rowe (Glenville, NY) taking the 100 backstroke in 1:02.77. The Knights also took first in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:44.63. Juniors Nick Clemens (Lowville, NY), Aaron Kreher (Clarence, NY), and Mitch Maciuba (Clarence, NY) were joined by senior Kane Streichert (Norwich, NY) as the first-place team in that event.
St. Lawrence’s men saw six different individual winners, including Rob Sibley, who claimed the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke races. The Saints’ women had five different winners, including a trio of two-time victors, Kate Spakowski (400 and 800 freestyle), Katharina Weidhausser (200 freestyle and 100 butterfly), and Katy Kozminski (50 and 100 freestyle).
