The St. Lawrence University softball team split its opening games of the 2011 season on Saturday in Ft. Myers, FL. The Saints fell to Ohio Wesleyan 9-0 in the early game, but rebounded to defeat MCLA 8-0 in the second game.

Though the Saints' bats were kept quiet in the first contest, they rebounded for an eight run effort led by first-year student Leslie Stratton. The Bedford, NH native went 2-for-3, including a double, tallying two RBI's while scoring two runs of her own. Classmate Caroline Kieltyka went 2-for-3 and also scored a run for the Saints. Sophomore pitcher Liz McGinley earned her first win of the season with the shut out, scattering four hits in five innings.

The Scarlet and Brown will battle Steven's Institute of Technology and Albright College tomorrow, March 13th at 9:00 and 11:00, respectively.
