St. Lawrence University senior Nordic skier Caroline Carpenter and first-year student Austin Meng each recorded new career-best finishes on Saturday in the classic races at the 2012 Dartmouth Carnival held at Trapp Family Lodge.

Carpenter posted a seventh place finish in the women's 15k classic, her first collegiate top-10, to pace the Scarlet and Brown. The Shelburne, VT native's time of 48:47.6 helps towards solidifying an individual bid to the 2012 NCAA Championships.

Following Carpenter in the scoring for St. Lawrence on Saturday in the women's event were senior Leah Hart and junior Kelsey Nichols. The duo rounded out the Saints' scoring in 26th and 42nd place, respectively.

First-year students Kate Mulcahy (45th) and Emma Duffany (53rd) also competed for St. Lawrence.

Meanwhile, Meng delivered his first collegiate top-20 in 17th place overall in the men's 20k classic. The Truckee, CA native raced in 1:00:41.1 to earn 24.0 points.

Senior Adam Terko was 28th to contribute to the scoring, while rookie Will Frielinghaus had another solid finish this weekend in 36th overall.

Rookie Evan Turner was 45th, followed by sophomore Eric Lustgarten in 51st. Sophomore Bill Prescott rounded out the Saints' line-up in 57th position.

The University of Vermont, led by Lucy Garrec's individual victory, won the women's 15k classic while Eric Packer led the Dartmouth Big Green to the win in the men's race.

Both St. Lawrence Nordic teams will be in action again next weekend, Friday and Saturday, February 17 and 18, at the 2012 Williams Carnival.
