Saints men's crew team compete against Ithaca

The St. Lawrence University men's crew team picked up two second place finishes against Ithaca on the Cayuga Inlet in Ithaca, NY on Saturday.     

Ithaca beat the Saints 1V by only ten seconds, finishing in 6:09.50 while St. Lawrence finished in 6:19.40.  Sophomore Audrey Strasenburgh coxed the top eight, while senior Dave MacClaren stroked.  Also racing for the Saints were seniors Cam West and Nick Blum, juniors Jon Williams and Brent Underwood, sophomore Francis Stripp, and first-years Andrew Freeman and Ethan Buhl.   

The men's JV 8+ posted a second place finish with a time 6:47.90, while Ithaca raced a time of 6:32.20.  Ithaca's 3V rounded out the event in a time of 7:27.60.  The eight, which consisted of all first-years, was coxed by Haley Burrowes and stroked by Sam Scheu.  Andy Caswell, Ethan Buhl, Andrew Freeman, Evan Pierce, Thaddeus Sipe, Connor Berkery and Peter Weatherill also helped power the eight. 

The men's novice 8 finished in 7:27.60 but was disqualified due to an interference penalty.  Ithaca earned first place with a time of 6:26.50 while Skidmore was awarded second place due to the penalty.  Elena Ruiz coxed and Scheu stroked the eight, which also consisted of all first-years.  Andy Caswell, Michael Brewer, Tom Lockwood, Phil Hodosy, Sipe, Pierce and Weatherill also raced for the Saints.   

The Saints will compete against Hamilton in Rome, NY on Saturday, April 16th.
