The St. Lawrence University men's basketball team fell to the University of Rochester 81-52 on the first day of the Chuck Resler Tournament in Rochester, NY on Friday night.
The Scarlet and Brown fall to 1-1 on the season while the Yellowjackets improve to 1-0.
The Saints could not hold back the Yellowjackets offense as Rochester shot 56.6 percent from the floor, making 30 of 53 attempts including 16-32 from the 3-point line.
St. Lawrence struggled to get into an offensive rhythm in the first half, shooting 5-24 from the floor while committing 13 turnovers. Rochester continually stretched its lead behind the three-point shooting of Mike Labanowski, ending the first half with a 41-15 advantage.
Though the Saints out-rebounded the Yellowjackets 33-24 in the contest, they could not overcome the large point deficit and fell to tournament hosts 81-52.
Leading the Saints' effort was junior Ralph Temgoua with 15 points and six rebounds, while classmate Garrett Sharlow has 12 points and nine rebounds. First-year student Al Jones contributed nine points.
St. Lawrence will battle Bates College tomorrow on the second day of the Chuck Resler Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00pm.
