St. Lawrence University junior Ashley-Kate Durham and sophomore Caroline Barry each earned a spot in the top-10 of the women's slalom on Friday to lead the Saints alpine ski teams at the 2012 Williams Carnival at Jiminy Peak in Hancock, MA.

Durham, who missed last weekend's Dartmouth Carnival due to illness, rebounded nicely on Friday with a combined time of 1:38.61. The Timmins, ON native used a second run time of 49.73 to propel herself up the leaderboard, as that time was the second-fastest in the competition.

Barry also used an impressive second run, as she went from 24th to ninth place thanks to a time of 50.52. First-year student Maria Hillenbrand closed the scoring for the St. Lawrence women's team in 21st place, her best collegiate showing to date.

Senior Mackenzie Irwin picked up her fifth career top-25 in 23rd place overall, while first-year students Allison Visconti (31st) and Hannah Kadah (DQ) rounded out the team's line-up.

In the men's slalom, St. Lawrence was led by senior Jeremy Lawless, who raced in 1:36.48 to take 29th place. The Shelburne Falls, MA native was followed closely by teammates Loudon Fruth and Nick Scalia, who tied for 30th place to finish the team's scoring.

First-year student Graham Scott was 43rd in the men's slalom, while sophomores Dustin Martin and Ben DeFlavio failed to qualify for the second run.

Laurel Carter of Williams College topped teammate Geordie Lonza to win the women's event, while Sean Higgins from UVM led the Catamounts to the team title.

Both St. Lawrence alpine teams will compete again tomorrow, Saturday, February 18 in the GS.
