The Saints duo of senior Stephanie Finn and junior Hillary Drewry split sets with Bendijo and Tierney of TCNJ before falling in the deciding set of the USTA/ITA Regional Doubles Final at William Smith College 3-6, 6-1, 6-0.
"They had to play great to win and in the end they came up just a bit short," Coach Jeremy Freeman said.
Finn and Drewry posted phenomenal performances throughout the weekend, defeating #4 seeded Aiello and Balsamo (NJ) 8-5 in the quarterfinals and #2 seeded Goodman and Tseng (UR) 8-5 in the semifinals. The duo was just the third team in school history to make it to the finals of this tournament.
Finn, who defeated Aiello (NJ) 8-6 in the semifinals of the consolation singles, won the final match against Tori Engros (SK) by default.
The Saints are back in action at Cortland Thursday September 30th as they take on the Red Dragons in a dual match.
