Sun Valley, ID - Freshman Kelly Rowland (West Windsor, NJ) finished 45th among 92 skiers Tuesday as the Clarkson University Women's Alpine Ski team opened the USCSA Nationals with a 10th place showing among 18 teams in the giant slalom Tuesday afternoon.
On Wednesday, the Golden Knights' men will compete in the giant slalom, beginning at 11:30 am Eastern Standard Time.
Rowland and junior Sarah Shafer (Petoskey, MI) each finished in the top half of all competitors on Tuesday, placing back-to-back in 45th and 46th after two runs. Rowland finished in 2:28.60 in her two runs, while Shafer nearly mirrored the time with a 2:28.75 showing. Freshman Taylor Manderson (Ballston Spa, NY) finished 52nd with a time of 2:32.01 and sophomore Mycala Stebbins (Canandaigua, NY) claimed 63rd, racing down the mountain in 2:40.34. Freshman Ashley Yoviene (Boston, NY) was one of 13 skiers that was unable to finish one of her runs.
