(Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton women's soccer team blanked Fisher College 7-0 Sunday afternoon on senior day for their second straight shutout.
Prior to the game head coach Kate Thomas-Moody recognized and honored four-senior Aubrey Parrish (Greene, N.Y.) and sophomore Angie Waryasz (Lowville, N.Y.). Both players are graduation this year. Parrish has logged over 3,000 minutes in goal and has an impressive 1.80 career goals-against average and a .728 save percentage with 11 shutouts. She was an all-Sunrise Conference selection as a sophomore. Waryasz made the all-conference team as a freshman and in two years has scored 18 goals with 13 assists for 49 points.
SUNY Canton led 4-0 at halftime thanks to goals from Parrish, who played forward today, Rici Celia (Essex Junction, Vt.), Bailey Allen (Adams, N.Y.), and Jackie Sedlacek (Endicott, N.Y.). The Roos fired 20 shots in the first half and the score could have much higher if not for several terric saves by Fisher goalie Deanna Morency who finished with 21 in the game.
Waryasz, Chelsea Allen (Marcellus, N.Y.) and Katlyn Hart (Harrisville, N.Y.) added second-half goals to complete the scoring. Melissa Campoverde (New York, N.Y.) contributed three assists and Holli-Jo Cota (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) and Sedlacek combined for no saves in the game.
The Roos will battle conference opponents University of Maine at Machias next weekend. The games on Saturday and Sunday will be held at Rivier College in Nashua, N.H.
