(Canton, N.Y.)- Senior forward Kaitlin Myers (Dannemora, N.Y.) and sophomore guard Corrine Riegel (Bainbridge, N.Y.) of the SUNY Canton women's basketball team have been honored by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.
Myers was named an Honorable Mention All-American, and joined Riegel on the All-Academic Team, which goes to sophomores, juniors or seniors that earn a 3.50 or higher grade-point average.
Myers, a physical therapy assistant major, who also received Honorable Mention after her junior year, averaged a double-double with a team-leading 13.2 points and 11.4 rebounds. She also led the Roos in blocks (53), free throw shooting (.778), minutes played (33.5), and double-doubles (8), and added 23 assists and 21 steals. Myers was named USCAA Player of the Week twice this season, most recently on Feb. 19 after posting a triple-double against the University of Maine at Fort Kent with 18 points, 24 rebounds and 13 blocked shots.
Riegel, a criminal investigations major, was a key player off the bench for SUNY Canton averaging 5.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting a team-high 41 percent from the floor.
