(Elmira, N.Y.)- Despite a season-high 10 saves by junior goalie Sankung Sillah (Bronx, N.Y.) the SUNY Canton men’s soccer team was shut out by Elmira College 2-0 on Wednesday.
Sillah, who entered the game with a 1.57 goals-against average and three shutouts this season, had six of his saves in the opening 45 minutes keeping the game tied at 0-0. The Soaring Eagles kept the pressure on the Roos in the second half and scored their first goal in the 72nd minute when Andre Germano headed in a cross from Josh Rumble. Elmira made it 2-0 in the 85th minute when Logan Campbell scored from Germano on a give-and-go play.
The Roos (3-5-1) return home this weekend starting a six-game home stretch hosting Vermont Technical College on Saturday at 3 p.m. and Johnson State College on Sunday, also at 3 p.m.
