CANTON--The SUNY Canton men's soccer team put on a dominating performance on Saturday as they beat the College of St. Joseph 4-1 in Canton.

The Roos improved to 4-1 in the Sunrise Conference and evened their record at 4-4 overall as they've now won four out of their last five games.

SUNY Canton gained control of the game early as they controlled the tempo throughout the first half.  The Roos fired 12 shots at the Fighting Saints in the first 45 minutes using nice touch passes at center field and several strong runs along the wings.

That pressure finally paid off in the 22nd minute of the game when James Catillaz (Gansevoort, N.Y.) made one of those runs along the outside and sent a pass to Chris Cumella (Webster, N.Y.) in the middle who made a quick trap and fired a rocket from 30 yards out for a 1-0 lead.

Just over seven minutes later with the Roos still pressing, Catillaz made another nice cross from the right wing.  This time the ball went to Moubarak Agoro (Bronx, N.Y.) who sent a quick shot into the goal for a 2-0 halftime lead.

The Roos kept up the pressure in the second half as they generated 12 more shots and held St. Joseph to just four and six overall for the game.

SUNY Canton's third goal came in the 64th minute.  Defender Dennis Frost (Bridgetown, Nova Scotia) took a feed from Loocken Vixama (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and launched a high shot that found the back of the net for his first goal of the season and third of his career.  Cumella then finished off the scoring in the 80th minute when his shot from 25 yards out re-directed off a St. Joseph defender and into the net.

Homero Flores had three saves in goal for the Roos.

Devin Bailey had seven saves and Donald Purcell one as he played the final 8:30 in net.  Nate Kobbah scored for St. Joseph.

The Roos will host Vermont Technical College on Sunday at 12 p.m.
