(Potsdam, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men’s basketball team saw their season come to a close on Sunday as they lost to the College of St. Joseph 77-51 at Clarkson University’s Alumni Gym.
It was also the final game for seniors Tony Valentin (Perth Amboy, N.J.), Jajuan Williams (Richlands, N.C.) and Silvon John (Bronx, N.Y.), who were recognized and honored prior to the start of the game.
Valentin finished with a team-high 15 points, Williams had two points and three assists and John added four points and two rebounds for the Roos.
SUNY Canton (1-11 Sunrise Conference, 4-18 overall) did cut a large deficit down to nine points late in the second half after a spirited run, but the Fighting Saints countered with several big 3-pointers down the stretch to stymie any comeback.
Rob Sanders (New York, N.Y.) added eight points and five boards for the Roos and Irving Cato (New York, N.Y.) contributed six points.
Rahiem Smalls led St. Joseph with 16 points and seven rebounds and KJ Jackson added 15 points and two blocked shots.
