Roos baseball splits doubleheader with St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn)

(Bellerose, NY) Jordan Hunneyman (Redwood, NY) went 4 for 4 at the plate, scoring two runs and batting three runs as the Roos win game one of the doubleheader today versus St. Joseph’s College by a score of 10-3. Also dominating offensively for SUNY Canton were Gerardo Torres (Stafford, Va.) who went 3-4, hitting 2 RBIs, scoring one run, and Will McIntyre (Ottawa, Ontario) who was 3-5, scoring one run and batted three runs in.

On the mound for the Roos in game one was Dom Deliberti (Staten Island, NY) who pitched the entire game, striking out three and allowed only 7 hits in the outing. Deliberti earned his second win of the season with the effort.

Game two was a tighter contest. SUNY Canton started off well with a two-out RBI single from Gerardo Torres in the top of the third inning. The Roos and the Bears traded runs throughout the rest of the game pushing the contest into extra innings. The Bears hit a walk-off single to win the contest in the 10th inning.

Staying strong on the mound in game two for the Roos was Travis Legacy (Malone, NY), pitching nine innings, striking out five.

Torres was the clutch for the Roos today against the Bears, picking up four hits, scoring two runs and stealing three bases in the effort.

The Roos are next in action on Monday April 9 in Buffalo, NY as they face Medaille College in a doubleheader. The first pitch is thrown at 2:00 pm and updates can be found on Twitter @RoosBaseball.
