RIT women's lacrosse tops Saints in Liberty League opener

First-year Isabel Silvia scored two goals and three other members of the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team added one, but RIT topped the Saints 16-5 in Liberty League action on Saturday afternoon in Rochester, New York.

Silvia also recorded a team-best four ground balls, caused two turnovers and won two draw controls, while Alexandra LaMotte, Colby Hoffman and Emma Owens all scored for the Scarlet and Brown. Kylie Murphy also added an assist for the Saints.

RIT outscored the Saints 11-1 in the first half, with the Saints lone goal coming from Silvia at 7:39.

Silvia also struck first to open the second half, adding her second unassisted tally of the game.

The Tigers added the next four straight, before Hoffman scored with 13:59 remaining. LaMotte and Owens scored down the stretch, but the Saints were unable to overcome the first half deficit.

Olivia Africa led the Tigers with four goals and two assists, while Meghan Donahue, Alanna Fallone and Krystyna Sterio each scored three goals. McKenna Joint, Steph Darrell and Tyne Bechtold all added one goal for RIT. Colette Rigas posted a team-high five ground balls, while Fallone won six draw controls.

Saints' goalkeeper Olga Lukas made 11 saves for the Saints, while Paulina Goodermote made 13 saves for the Tigers.

RIT outscored the Saints 31-28 and held a 27-18 shots on goal advantage.

St. Lawrence fell to 0-3 on the season and 0-1 in conference play, while the Tigers improved to 3-2 and 1-1.
