Webster, NY - Senior Nikki Pera (Jamison, PA) broke her own three-year-old record in the 200 backstroke in the preliminaries and then bested her nine-hour-old mark in the finals to highlight the final day of the Clarkson University Swim team's performance at the UNYSCSA Championships held at the Webster Aquatic Center.

The Golden Knights' men finished ninth among 13 teams with 324 total points and the women came in 14th of 14 teams with 152 points.

As a freshman three seasons ago, Pera set a high standard in the 200 backstroke, but the senior was able to narrowly defeat the mark in the preliminaries on Saturday. However, in the evening's finals she topped the mark by more than three-quarters of a second in 2:14.07 to take 18th place overall.

None of the men's swimmers broke the school mark in the 200 backstroke, but three gained points for the Golden Knights' cause. Junior Mike Rowe (Glenville, NY) led the way with an 11th place finish in 1:58.44. Classmate Aaron Cubells (Hamden, CT) took 21st and sophomore Stephen Maxwell (Latham, NY) moved up a spot from his preliminary finish by claiming 23rd.

In the distance events, sophomore Colleen Daly (Manlius, NY) finished 20th overall in the 1650 freestyle in 19:09.93 for the women, while classmate Sean Parnett (Clifton Park, NY) came in 16th in the same event for the men, hitting the final touch pad at 17:18.30.

The team of Bob Stevens (Lakewood, NY), Paul Telesca (Liverpool, NY), Aaron Kreher (Clarence, NY), and Mitchel Maciuba (Clarence, NY) finished ninth in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:15.55, while another squad of Nick Clemens (Lowville, NY), Mike Rowe (Glenville, NY), Brendan Hofler (Glen Gardner, NJ) and Kurt Schwarting (Lowville, NY) came in 23rd. The women's 400 freestyle relay foursome of Emma Bonan (Queensbury, NY), Nikki Pera, Colleen Daly, and Caitlin Joyce (Walden, NY) placed 13th in 3:58.76.

In non-scoring events for the Knights, the top finishers were Courtney Karszes (Stanley, NY), who took 57th in the 100 freestyle, Bob Stevens, who came in 35th in the 100 freestyle for the men, Anne Hawn (Gouverneur, NY), who finished 29th in the 200 breaststroke, and Barry Pawlowski (Cheektowaga, NY), who was 27th in the 200 breaststroke for the men.
