The St. Lawrence University women's cross country team, ranked No. 2 in the USTFCCA national poll, captured the 2010 Hoffmann Invitational on Saturday in the Saints' annual home race.  Senior captain Wendy Pavlus earned the individual title, her fifth straight victory dating back to last season.

The Scarlet and Brown earned the team title with 17 points, ahead of Cortland State, which finished second with 55.  The University of Ottawa (78) and Clarkson University (90) also competed on Saturday in the team event.

Pavlus posted an impressive time of 22:11, finishing 56 seconds ahead of teammate Jenna Hulton, who was the races runner-up in 23:07.  Senior Megan Derby was third overall in 23:31, while Amy Cymerman (6th, 24:01) and Jackie Lemme (10th, 24:25) capped the Saints' scoring.

Junior Melanie Solandt was 11th in 24:30, while Kate Powers (12th, 24:35), Kelsey Leder (14th, 24:45) and Caroline Raue (15th, 24:46) added top-15 showings for St. Lawrence.

The Saints also took spots No. 17 through 24, with Toria Koutras and McKayna Nuffer taking 17th and 18th place, respectively.  Kayla Vodacek, Elizabeth Edwards, Abby Macbeth, Kendra Sultzer, Erikka Nuffer and Katie Mannix rounded out that pack of St. Lawrence runners.

Also representing the host school in the Hoffmann Invitational were Andrea Maynard (32nd), Machele Clarke (34th) and Bailey Furtak (46th).

St. Lawrence will have next weekend off before returning to action on October 23rd at the 2010 NYSCTC Championships in Saratoga Springs, NY.
