The SUNY Canton men's soccer team ran their winning streak to three games as they clipped Vermont Technical College 1-0 Sunday afternoon in Canton.

For the second day in a row the Roos controlled the game from the opening whistle and kept the ball in the offensive end for most of the game.  SUNY Canton has now won five out of their last six games and improved to 5-1 in the Sunrise Conference and 5-4 overall.

"Our guys are playing really well right now," said SUNY Canton head coach Mark Howlett.  "They passed the ball extremely well this weekend and played much more organized.  We just need to continue to work hard and keep improving."

SUNY Canton outshot the Green Knights 31-6 but a stingy defensive effort from Vermont Tech kept the score from being much higher.

After a scoreless first half the Roos were finally able to break through.  In the 57th minute James Catillaz (Gansevoort, N.Y.) set up Loocken Vixama (Brooklyn, N.Y.) for the game-winning goal.  It was Vixama's third goal of the season and second game-winner and it was Catillaz's third assist of the weekend.

Homero Flores (Tamaulipas, Mexico) made five saves for his second shutout of the year.

David Livingston had seven saves in the first half and Darren Rivard had six in the second half.

The Roos will next play at Utica College on Wednesday, Oct. 6. and then travel to Maine to play the University of Fort Kent on Saturday and the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Sunday.
