(Fort Kent, Maine)- The SUNY Canton women’s basketball team wrapped up a rugged trip to Northern Maine on Sunday as they fell to the University of Maine at Fort Kent 56-39 in a Sunrise Conference contest.
The Roos went 2-1 on the trip picking up key victories over the University of Maine at Machias on Friday and the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday and they are now 3-2 in the conference and 5-9 overall.
On Sunday Shannon LaFave (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) recorded her fourth double-double of the season and third in her last four games with 16 points and 11 rebounds. LaFave shot 6-for-9 from the field and five of her rebounds came on the offensive glass.
Ilijana Todorovic (Banja Luka, Bosnia), who recently joined the team transferring from Bosnia, had a big night in her first significant minutes. The sophomore scored 10 points and made two steals in 19 minutes hitting 4 of 5 shots and 2 of 2 free throws. Mindy Small (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) added six points, five rebounds and four steals.
Angela Norsworthy and Jenn Colpitts each scored 13 points to lead the Bengals.
