The St. Lawrence University women's basketball team topped Liberty League opponent Skidmore College in overtime, 55-52, in Saratoga Springs, NY.

The Saints, who battled back from a nine point deficit early in the second half, extended their win-streak to nine games and improved to 12-4 overall with a 8-0 mark in the league. The Thoroughbreds, who led 18-12 at the half, fell to 11-4 overall and 4-2 in the Liberty League.

Senior Iris Santoni led the way for the Saints with 13 points, while sophomore Kelly Legg added 10 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Katie Abramski recorded 10 points off the bench for the visitors.

The teams were back and forth over the last 5:04 of the second half as there were five lead changes and three ties. With under three minutes remaining in regulation, Skidmore's Logan Frederick made a pair of free throws to give the Thoroughbreds a one point lead before senior co-captain Casey Capello answered back with a three-pointer, giving the visitors a 45-43 lead at 1:38.

With less than 30 seconds remaining, Jessie Kavana stripped the ball for the home team and drew a foul on a fast break, making both free throws to tie it up, 45-45 with :23 seconds remaining. Though both teams had a shot attempt in the final :23 seconds, neither was able to convert and the game was sent into overtime.

In the overtime period, the teams traded a pair of baskets before the Saints took the lead for good at 2:05 on a layup by Legg, 51-49. Skidmore was never able to get closer than two for the remainder of the game. Legg hit the front end of a one and one to push the lead to three. After a miss on the second free throw with six seconds left, the home team tossed up a desperation look that didn't fall as the Saints held on for the 55-52 win.

The Saints will travel to Vassar and Bard on Friday and Saturday.
