St. Lawrence University first-year student Kara McDuffee scored a career-high 18 points, while senior co-captain Katie Edgerton had 18 points and six rebounds to lift the women's basketball team to a 78-63 victory over Liberty League foe William Smith on Saturday afternoon in Geneva, NY.

The Saints, now 9-4 overall, rolled to their fifth straight conference victory in a row. Sophomore Kelly Legg made a bid for a triple-double with nine points, 10 rebounds and seven blocks, while junior Erica Spera added 11 points and nine rebounds. William Smith, who was led by Chloe Hayter's 12 points and seven rebounds, falls to 5-7 overall with a 1-2 mark in the Liberty League.

"Our team put together a complete game today, from start to finish," said St. Lawrence head coach Dan Roiger. "We really played with a lot of effort and intensity, and sustained it for 40 minutes. It was a fun game to coach, a great game to play, and I imagine a super game to watch."

The first half was tightly contested with five ties and six lead changes. Murphy forged the game's final tie with a layup at the 5:54 mark before the Saints got some separation by scoring the next nine points, including five from McDuffee. St. Lawrence owned a 38-33 advantage at the half.

Though the Herons cut their deficit to three twice in the second half, the last time on a 3-pointer at the 11:07 mark, the Saints countered with the next seven points to take a 66-56 lead. A short while later they put the game out of reach with a 12-0 run that ballooned their lead to 18.

St. Lawrence enjoyed a 19-3 advantage in points off turnovers, finishing the game plus-eight in turnover margin. The Saints also had a slight rebounding edge (46-45) to stretch its winning streak to six games.

The Scarlet and Brown will return home to face Rensselaer on Friday, Jan. 20. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00pm.
