A late rally by Skidmore spoiled a bid by the Clarkson University Women’s Lacrosse team to gain a victory in Liberty League play on the road as the Thoroughbreds were able to pull out an 11-10 win on Saturday at Wachenheim Field in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Skidmore (7-3, 2-2) scored the game’s final three goals, including two in the last minute of play. Abbie Hamlin connected for the game-winner with just three seconds to play to cap off a wild comeback by the Thoroughbreds.

Skidmore appeared in control after the first half with an 8-4 lead through the opening 30 minutes.

Clarkson took charge in the second half, scoring six straight goals to go on top 10-8. Juniors Katie VanDeValk (Baldwinsville, NY) and Alyssa Cristaldi (North Syracuse, NY) scored two each in the run for the Golden Knights. Senior Laura Barlow (Latham, NY) gave the Green and Gold a two-goal lead with 7:26 remaining.

Skidmore, however, answered back with three straight goals to gain the win.

Cristaldi led Clarkson with three goals and two assists. VanDeValk finished with three goals and an assist, while senior Saryn Campbell (West Bolton, VT) had two goals and an assist to go along with six ground balls and three draws. Junior Kerrie Cline (Tuxedo, NY) also scored for the Knights.

For the Thoroughbreds, Spencer Morgan finished with two goals and an assist.

Skidmore outshot Clarkson 38-25 and had a slight 24-21 edge in ground balls. The Golden Knights won 13 of 23 draws.

Senior Hannah Walters (Amherst, NH) stopped 15 shots for Clarkson.

At 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the Liberty League, Clarkson opens a four-game home stand when it hosts St. Lawrence on Tuesday in a 7:00 p.m. game at Hantz Turf Field.
