Potsdam, NY - With a third straight-set sweep of Potsdam State this year, the Clarkson University Volleyball team seems to have rallied back from a mid-season slump, as the Golden Knights have won five straight, including Tuesday's 25-11, 25-15, 25-12 victory against the Bears at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights moved to 23-6 overall and have not dropped a set in their past five matches. Potsdam fell to 6-24 on the season. Clarkson closes out its regular season this weekend when the team travels to the Judges Classic, a tough tournament involving several of the top teams from the New England Region.

The Knights took immediate control against Potsdam on Tuesday, gathering 12 of the first 17 points in their favor before a Potsdam timeout. Clarkson more than doubled the Bears up from that point, winning 25-11.

The second set was a different start, but the same result. Potsdam gained seven of the first 11 points, but Clarkson rallied to take 13 of the next 15 and won going away, 25-15. The third and final set was more of the same with Clarkson enjoying several lengthy runs to win by double figures once again.

Junior Sara Artus (St. Regis Falls, NY) led the team with 10 kills, while a trio of hitters, Megan Mahon (Irvine, CA), Nicole Edwards (Weiser, ID), and Courtney Haines (Crestview, FL) each had six kills. That triumverate combined for 18 kills and only four errors in 36 swings.

Freshman setter Lani Durio (Austin, TX) produced 24 assists, and Alison Schroeder (Webster, NY) had 15 digs. Clarkson had 15 aces in the three-set sweep, with Mahon and Edwards each accounting for four.
