Rochester, NY - With 30 assists on 34 field goals, the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team was back to its selfless ways on Saturday afternoon as the Golden Knights posted a season-high in points, outlasting RIT 92-85 in Liberty League action.

The Golden Knights improved to 9-3 overall and 2-1 in the Liberty League, while the Tigers dropped to 5-8 and 1-3. Clarkson will return home for its first conference game of the year in Alumni Gymnasium on Tuesday against Skidmore College.

Clarkson fell behind early in the opening half as the team missed on a few of its first possessions, but it didn't take long for the Knights to put points on the scoreboard. The Green and Gold shot well from every where on the floor in the first half, shooting better than 60 percent overall and a ridiculous 76.9 percent (10-for-13) from beyond the 3-point arc. Clarkson had 19 assists on its 20 makes in the first half, leading to a season-best 50 points in the first half (the Knights scored 53 points in the second half against Keuka in the third game of the 2011-12 campaign). Seniors Felix Llanos (Queens, NY) and Jerry Coleman (Potsdam, NY) each had 10 points in the first 20 minutes, as did freshman John Coleman (Potsdam, NY).

It was more of the same to start the second half as Clarkson continued to bury shots from all over the court. However, RIT didn't fold, despite being down by 20 points at intermission, and nearly fought all the way back late in the half. Trailing by 16 points, 74-58, with 7:16 remaining, the Tigers scored 16 of the next 20 points to pull to within four points at the 3:44 mark. A pair of 3-pointers from Felix Llanos highlighted an 8-0 run for Clarkson, and the Knights went 6-for-7 from the free throw line in the final minute to hold off the Tigers' final push.

Llanos had a short memory after being held to a season-low three points against Hobart on Friday, ripping RIT for 26 points and going 5-for-9 from beyond the 3-point arc. John Coleman shot 9-for-11 from the field for 20 points and Jerry Coleman finished with another solid all-around game, scoring 12 points to go with eight rebounds, six assists and two blocks. Senior Tyler Barron (Burlington, VT) shot 3-for-4 from the 3-point line for nine points, and sophomore Marques Charlton (Deer Park, NY) added in six points and eight assists.

Kurt Fenderbosch tied Llanos for the game-high, scoring 26 points and making five 3-pointers of his own for RIT. Justin Hesig came up just short of a double-double, scoring 24 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
