Webster, NY - Junior Mike Rowe (Glenville, NY) was the top finisher for the Clarkson University Swim team on the opening day of the UNYSCSA Championships held at the Webster Aquatic Center.

Through the first handful of events, the Golden Knights' men were 9th among 13 teams with 59 points, while the women were 14th out of 14 teams with 28 points.

Rowe was the first to earn points for the Golden Knights, coming in 19th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:51.43. Teammate Brendan Hofler (Glen Gardner, NJ) finished less than a second behind in the same heat, taking 21st. In the 50 freestyle, junior Nick Clemens (Lowville, NY)  earned 22nd place with a time of 22.26 seconds. Finishing out the point scoring for the men, Bob Stevens (Lakewood, NY), Chris Plummer (Spencerport, NY), Kane Streichert (Norwich, NY) and Clemens took eighth in the 200 medley relay in 1:39.05. Clarkson's "B" racing team of Rowe, Barry Pawlowski (Cheektowaga, NY), Sean Parnett (Clifton Park, NY) and Aaron Kreher (Clarence, NY) took 24th in that event as well.

The lone scoring for the women's team came in the 200 medley relay as Nikki Pera (Jamison, PA), Anne Hawn (Gouverneur, NY), Kimberlee Stillittano (Binghamton, NY) and Caitlin Joyce (Walden, NY) placed 13th in 2:01.64.

The top times in the preliminaries in events in which Clarkson did not score were Emma Bonan (Queensbury, NY), who placed 29th in the 500 freestyle, Joyce, who took 40th in the 200 individual medley, Plummer, who finished 36th in the men's 200 individual medley, and Kelsey Jones (Kattskill, NY), who placed 54th in the 50 freestyle.
